If Not NOW, who? If Not NOW, when?

“You must love yourself before you love another. By accepting yourself and fully being what you are, your simple presence can make others happy.”

FEATURING PLENARY SESSIONS:

BODY PROPOGANDA
This 60-minute session takes a look at our media saturated culture. Participants will examine the messages the media gives women and girls and the values it cultivates concerning appearance, relationships, violence against women, and career/school choices.

Facilitated by CarolineTicarro-Parker, Mind on the Media

ADDRESSING THE INNER CRITIC
Using a body-centered approach including guided imagery, discussion, art, gentle yoga and movement, gain an understanding of the role of your inner critic. By illuminating the roots of our insecurities, we can stop doubting ourselves. This workshop focuses on self-care and empowerment. Participants develop tools for working with the inner critic and increasing self-esteem.

Facilitated by Mia Bolte, The Purple Crayon Factory

"REAL WOMEN COME IN ALL SIZES: Building Healthy Body Esteem in a Body Toxic World"
Pressured by the unrealistic “thin ideal,” most women learn to struggle with size and shape as young teens and continue the battle throughout their lives.  Now new and dire medical warnings about the rising rate of fatness are generating even more anxiety about weight and triggering a fear of fatness in increasingly young children. Rather than helping, apprehension about weight, body angst, and the drive to lose weight are catalysts for negative body image, disordered eating, weight gain, diminished fitness, and poorer health.  Despite this, old paradigms that perpetuate body “wars” are still prescribed and innocently accepted. More than ever women need realistic, holistic and sane guidance to embrace positive body esteem, wholesome eating, fitness and health regardless of size.

Facilitated by Kathy Kater, LICSW, Healty Body Image

Workshop presenters include:
TVbyGirls, Anna Westin Foundation, YWCA Women's Wellness Program, Planned Parenthood's Reach One Teach One and Parents Are Sexuality Educators Programs, University of Minnesota Tucker Center,
...just to name a few.
